"Cottone Field Fund for Lights"

An organization named the "Wethersfield Youth Organization" (WYO) has been created with the belief that a better Wethersfield begins with the children. At this time (5/3/2004), the I.R.S. indicated that this organization had not as yet obtained the requisite 501(c)(3) designation (which would allow funds it solicits, obtains and uses to be deductible for those who itemize for their federal taxes.) Based on this current information, contributions to this organization are probably still not tax deductible. Be sure to consult with your tax advisor in this regard. If you wish your contribution to be tax deductible, contribute directly to the town's fund (right -->).

Also, as reported by a local newspaper early in February, 2004, and confirmed by documents filed with the Town Clerk, Town of Wethersfield, this group, or a legal offshoot of it, has (on 1/29/2004) formed a poltical action committee (PAC), WYO,PAC. The official PAC designation restricts how funds specifically raised by the PAC may be designed and used. Contributions to a PAC are NOT tax deducible by those who itemize otherwise allowed deductions for calculation of their federal taxes.) Be sure to consult with your tax advisor in this regard. If you do NOT want to deduct your contribution, send it to:

Wethersfield Youth Organization, PAC
34 Dorchester Rd
Wethersfield, CT 06109

The Wethersfield officers are:

President: Daniel J. O’Connor
Vice Prez: Brian DiCioccio
Secretary: Lou Sanzaro
Treasurer: Bob Peters

The Town of Wethersfield (TOW) has established an account at a local bank to receive contributions for the acquisition, installation and maintenance of the special low-spillage lights for the Wethersfield High School athletic field designated as "Cottone Field". Funds deposited to this account are under the exclusive control of the Town of Wethersfield and not the WYO,PAC.

As confirmed by the Town Manager, B.L.Therrien, March, 2004, contributions to this TOW fund will NOT be used for political purposes and thus may possibly be considered as an itemizable deduction for federal taxes; be sure to consult with your tax advisor in this regard.

Checks can be made out to the Town's "Cottone Field Fund for Lights" and can be mailed to:
